PLANNING YOUR WEDDING
|
To be married at Ascension, you or your fiance must be an active Episcopalian, be members of Ascension, or have a personal history or family association with Ascension.
The first contact with the church should be with the Parish Secretary and the Rector at least 90 days prior to the wedding. The Rector must meet with you and approve the final wedding date, after which the wedding fee is required to hold its place on the church calendar. After the Rector, the next stop is our Wedding Coordinator, who will help you navigate church customs and ensure the smooth flow of your ceremony by coordinating with church staff, including the Organist. She is also present at the rehearsal and ceremony to assist the clergy and wedding party. Please make an appointment with Sharon Meek at [email protected] as soon as your wedding date is placed on the church calendar. Holy Matrimony is one of the Sacraments of the church and will take place with the dignity and reverence suited to a sacramental occasion. The Episcopal Book of Common Prayer, from which the marriage service is taken, also offers a special service called the Blessing of a Civil Marriage. To begin your wedding plans, please contact the Parish Secretary, Maggie Talbot, at 727-447-3469 or [email protected]

SCHEDULING A BAPTISM
|
In the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, we formally welcome children and adults into God's family --- and into the life of our church community. For that reason, Baptisms take place within the setting of our weekly worship services. During the baptism of you or your child, the congregation is asked to renew its own Baptismal Covenant --- a pledge to follow the teachings of Jesus and to repent when we fail to do so.
Please contact the Parish Secretary, Maggie Talbot, to set a date for the Baptism and a pre-baptismal conference with a member of our clergy. 727-447-3469 or [email protected]
